Nah... you cannot compare it ;) the deadlock-logger is running as a daemon and is logging everything into a table, which is great for permanent monitoring and for finding issues later. looking into that is much easier than dealing with the output of " SHOW ENGINE INNODB STATUS ". "show engine" helps if you need to go deeper, but in most cases, it´s okay to know when what happened, which queries have been involved.... the logger is logging the most important info (my opinion) ;)
